We all have one, you know, that famous person that you just go weak at the knees for. Mine has always been Jodie Foster. Most of us try to convince ourselves that our fantasy woman is gay/bi/whatever and in my case I could always be smug on this one cause lets face it – she’s family.

So I was delighted last December when Jodie seemed to come out in an acceptance speech when she called the woman long assumed to be her partner “My beautiful Cydney, who sticks with me through the rotten and the bliss.” I was chuffed!!! A lot of lesbians I know were annoyed that she didn’t just come out and say it, I mean it’s so obvious, Jodie has given birth to two children which Cydney has adopted and was present for both births – I mean come on. But I think people have a right to be as open and out as they choose themselves.

So we had another truly successful woman to look at in Hollywood and see as a role model for future actors. However it seems now that this joy has been short lived. I have read recently that Jodie and Cydney have split after 14 years together. Apparently Jodie called it a day after rows became too frequent. The legalities of this split could be massive. Let’s hope there isn’t a lot of public wrangling over the kids as they’ll have enough to cope with without that. I can just see the papers licking that up. Nothing reported about happy couples but they’re like moths to a flame when things go belly up.

So my sweet, sexy Jodie is single!!! She couldn’t have timed it worse for me as I’m not but I do hope that both parties move on and that they find a peaceful and amicable solution to their problems. Now that would make them role models!
