Keeping With It?
May 16th, 2008 | By Gooner | Category: MusicIf there’s one thing that ages me it’s music. I used to know exactly what’s in the charts, have tapes, yes tapes, of all the new stuff out at the time. I thought I’d always like what was contemporary and fresh – not so!
I have virtually given up listening to the radio in favour of my iPOD which is full to the brim with all the songs that have stood the test of time for me. Music by the likes of Tori Amos, Radiohead, Damien Rice and copious amounts of hits from the 80’s that I pretend, even to myself, I have on there to listen to in the gym but that I really love to listen to anytime.
I find myself singing along to those ads on the telly for massive compilation albums which have all those songs it’d take you years to compile yourself!!! When did that happen? When ads come on for the current genres I find that there are very few that catch my ear. There are some, I’m not THAT old yet, but more often than not I just sit there desperately trying to stop myself from calling it noise – my God – we really do all become our parents don’t we!!!
