L’s the Word
So I’ve just finished watching season 5 of the L Word, I have to say I found it much better than season 4 but still felt hard done by at the end of it. I mean it’s the L Word, I’m gonna watch it no matter what, but is it really the holly grail we first thought it to be?
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not one of those people who long for a lesbian based show and then tare it apart when it arrives, quite the contrary, I really enjoy it, but as hard as I try not to be, I’m disappointed.
There were good points to this season, Tina’s character developed and there were some very funny moments, not least “my lover Cindy”, however, when I look back on it as a whole I have to say that it was largely a missed opportunity. I mean there were the usual let downs like the very concept that every woman in the world wants Shane but then there were saving graces like the comedic goings on with Jenny, who for once was very entertaining.
There was Tasha’s military hearing and the “Subaru Pink Ride” which brought up important points but for me as a whole, the season got very close to being great but fell short due to some over-written slow paced drama.
One season left we’re told, I’ll be beating a path to the TV as soon as I get a chance to watch it but there will be a doubt in the back of my mind as to whether or not they’ll go back to the classy writing of the first few series or fall back into this slow paced story telling which lacks the classy edge of previous seasons.
