From LGBT Noise:

-

Civil Partnership? WE DON’T WANT IT! Civil Marriage Now!

Dublin: South King Street opposite the Gaiety Theatre
Gathering from 2pm, begin at 2.30pm
Saturday 28/06/08

Cork: Daunt Sq on the corner of Patrick St and Grand Parade.

Gathering from 2pm.

Galway: Details to follow.

A full three months late, the Fianna-Fáil-lead government has put before us a shoddy, half-baked plan for a registration scheme – dog license, anyone? – that doesn’t come close to realising a basic right of ALL the people of Ireland: EQUALITY before the law.

Instead, here’s what it does:

- It denies gay and lesbian people’s relationships the constitutional protection of the family;
- it leaves them legal strangers to the children they raise;
- perhaps most importantly, it denies them the special status society recognises in committed loving couples through the marriage contract.

That’s not acceptable to the Noisers, and it shouldn’t be acceptable in any progressive, egalitarian society.

We want the government to hear our message loud and clear, and we need your help: join us this Saturday 28/06/08 to tell the government that we deserve equality, that we demand equality, and that equality means
one thing – CIVIL MARRIAGE NOW!

See you there!

Love and Noise,

The Noise Team
