Euro Final

So it’s Germany v Spain in the final on Sunday. I have to admit that from day one I hoped either Spain or Holland would win this competition, they have both been the great pretenders of European football. Such great players have hailed from both countries but neither has managed to pull off the big wins when push comes to shove.

So I’ll be cheering on the Spanish come Sunday evening. I think this could be a great game as both teams like to go forward. Germany really are the masters when it comes to winning games like these so will be very tough to beat.

Cesc Fabregas needs to start in my opinion. Yes, I know, I’m a big Arsenal fan and therefore totally biased, but he really made a difference in the games he came in on. Just last night in the semi-final against Russia, he came on and changed the game totally. He was instrumental in the goals. I don’t want the world seeing too much of him in case we become the Barca feeder club, but I still hope he starts, he deserves it. Silva came on for Torres last night which looked like an odd sub from the manager but it turned out well as he scored Spain’s third. So a few decisions to be made by Luis Aragonés. Bad news too in that David Villa will miss Sunday’s final having been injured last night, a real shame for him after such a great tournament.

So two great semi-finals have been played out. Will the final live up to the hype. Let’s hope so. These games are usually played between two teams terrified to loose but hopefully Sunday will produce some football worthy of a competition which has produced some real class.
