I was chatting in work with a mate this morning and she was saying she saw a really moving pragram last night about a very brave woman. This program will be repeated on more4 on June 22nd at 10pm and is called “Sex Change Soldier”. It is about the brave story of Jan Hamilton who served with distinction as a paratrooper in the British Armed forces. While known as Ian Hamilton, Jan became one of the the most highly decorated officers in the British Army, serving in places such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and Northern Ireland.

Having Googled around about Jan I have read that she was courageous enough to go to court, against the Ministry of Defence, for sexual discrimination and unfair dismissal. She won a settlement having said that she was asked to go to a medical exam in mens clothing and that she had a job offer revoked on these ground, you can read this story here.
