Radiohead

I love them. From Pablo Honey to The Bends to OK Computer, I just love their music and I especially love their lyrics. I’m not so mad on their newer stuff but it’s still excellent. That’s why, in 2006, when front man Thom Yorke released his debut album, The Eraser, I was afraid that radiohead would go the way of the Beatles and split up. Let’s face it, when one member of a band, especially the lead writer, goes off on his own a split usually follows. The band said they supported him and even joined him on stage for a song or two during his live shows, but I was still afraid they’d split. However, I’m delighted (and relieved) to say that Radiohead are currently on their 7th album and it just shows you that if band members are genuinely friends, then they will support each other and not split.

When you look at the bands that have stayed together for decades, the likes of R.E.M, The Rolling Stones, U2 and The Red Hot Chilli Peppers, you can see that they are friends. Mates that got together and started a band. I think the fact that bands like these actually care about each other as people means that they can put up with one another crap on the road and respect one another’s opinions in the studio.

Radiohead play Malahide Castle tonight, I hope those lucky enough to have tickts have a great night. I’ve seen them 4 times and loved every minute.
