The Incredible Hulk

I was at a loose end in town yesterday afternoon so decided to go to the cinema. Wasn’t sure what i wanted to see but was in the mood for something that wasn’t going to be to taxing, a “leave your brain at the door” type of film. In the end I decided to go to see “The Incredible Hulk”. I used to love the show when I was little but had read very bad reviews of this particular film but in I went anyway.
I’m a big fan of Edward Norton and must say when I saw the posters for this film my first thought was “what’s he doing in this?”, I have read various reasons but whatever his motivation he was, as ever, excellent.
The storyline is as you’d expect, Bruce Banner is on the run from the powers that be and in hiding in South America. He is desperately trying to control his anger in an effort to control the Hulk. Inevitably, he is located and the chase begins. Will he find a “cure” for the gamma radiation which causes him to mutate or will he be caught by the army general who wants to replicate what has happened to him and make an army of super soldiers.
One of the army tough guys sent after our hero is played by Tim Roth and I must say he ads a lot to the piece. He has a personal vendetta against Dr Banner but yet is power hungry and wants his “power” for himself. This becomes the main theme of the movie, as banner tries to destroy the Hulk, Roth’s character tries to take it for himself.
I’m not sure I’d recommend the film to people as it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea but I have to say I enjoyed it for what it was. You knew basically what was going to happen before it did but if you can let go of yourself and just go with the flow this film is enjoyable and a nice way to kill a few hours on a rainy afternoon.
