A mystery solved….kinda
While walking the streets of Dublin by partner brought something to my attention.
Have you ever noticed a statue of a recling Greek woman in the window of houses in inner city Dublin? They’re kinda like the one here.
Once you see one, you will see them EVERYWHERE!!!!!
Myself and the partner have been annoying questioning all of our friends about them and they just shrug, only to agree a couple of days later when they can’t stop seeing them.
Now, I was listening to Ray D’arcy on Friday last. He has an hour on his show on Fridays called Fix it Friday, where people call in with facts that have been annoying them and he tries to find them out or answer their questions.
And what should be asked on Friday but “What are those Greek recling woman statues I keep seeing?”. YES! Then people kept calling and mailing in saying it’s been anniying them too. So it’s not just me and the lady. Honest.
It turns out that it’s not just a Dublin phenonenom. A guy in Limerick said that they are there too.
So, one of the Ray D’arcy show researches went into one or two of the houses sporting said statues and asked. The answer? They’re cheap, look cultured and we like them. Apparently you can get three for a fiver in Meath Street.
How boring!!!!
People on the show has been saying that they indicated that the house which had the statue was a brothel or had drugs for sale. Or that if the statue was turned to face to the right or the left, each meant something different. Now that would be interesting!
But no, just a case of a classical taste and lack of money.

Now that is boring – I was waiting on something really interesting then! So basically it’s just something a lot of people have!!!
Pity
What’s a “recling woman”? And how interesting if there were hidden codes being displayed by them?!
Like gay men and their fancy hankies. ..kinda.
I’ve noticed a lot of people have front doors on their houses. Once you see one, you will see them EVERYWHERE!
