Bored?

Jul 24th, 2008 | By Gooner | Category: This and That

I hate being bored. If I’m at home I can at least think of a few things to do. I can go to the gym or for a walk or go do some grocery shopping. I can ring a friend or watch TV and if it gets really bad I can even clean the place! Something that really gets to me, however, is being bored at work!

At the moment it’s so quiet in here you could quite literally hear a pin drop. Every day I manage to think of a few things to do but then the boredom sets in. At this stage I might go onto the net for a bit but that runs out fairly sharpish. Then I go check my snail mail or go to someone else’s office to see if I can help them out. The other day I was so bored that when I was coming back from someone else’s office I decided not to go to the ladies room but to wait, save it for a walk later.

It’s not like I can whip a book out and start reading it, there’s that guilt you see, I should be working. Today I tidied my office, cleaned out my filing cabinet and even bleached the sinks in the lab for something to do.

So what do people do at times like this? How do people keep busy? I’m running out of suggestions. Soon there will be real work to do and I’ll have forgotten how to be the least bit motivated
