Long Delays

It seems there are very long delays at Dublin airport this morning due to a problem with the radar system. People are being left wondering when they’ll be on their way. I heard one woman this morning saying she has missed her transfer flight to Oz and will have to pay for a new flight herself as these delays are not the fault of the airline so they don’t have to put her on another flight or even put people up in hotels while they wait.
Reports are coming out, however, that things are improving and the fault in the system has been identified. Last night the Irish Aviation Authority said that capacity had “increased to 60-65 per cent”. This still leaves a lot of people wondering when their holiday will start. It’s bad enough for adults but i really feel for people traveling with small children, what a total nightmare it is for them, traveling must be difficult enough without all this.
Many flights are being diverted to Shannon and other airports around the country, leaving passengers having to get buses to Dublin. According to Aer Lingus “6,200 passengers had been displaced by yesterday’s disruption”, that’s a lot of people. Let’s hope this is sorted soon, I really feel for anyone who has paid good money to go on holidays only to be told they may have to wait who knows how long to get on their way.
