I’m Loving: “Kings of Leon” & “The Killers”
Kings of Leon
I missed Kings of Leon the first time around, I’m not sure why. I only started to take notice after I’d heard Ragoo on the radio in work. Lead singer, Caleb Followill, has one of the greatest voices in any band on the scene at the minute. It’s deep and straining with emotion. Along with his two brothers, Jared and Nathan plus first cousin Matthew, the Kings of Leon have created a sound that everyone apart from America seems to adore. Their new album (their fourth) Only By The Night is understated and slightly more subdued than you might expect but it’s still worth splashing out on.
Live on Jools Holland with current single “Sex On Fire”.
Only By The Night is out now on RCA.

The Killers
I definitely didn’t miss these guys the first time around. In fact, I was a fan before they went mainstream. Mr. Brightside was played over and over on my discman (back in 2004). I missed them signing copies of Hot Fuss in HMV on Grafton St. that winter as I had a practical college exam and couldn’t skip it. Brandon Flowers is a good-looking bloke (one of my man-crushes!) and his voice is practically the complete opposite of Caleb Followill’s. I still find it haunting and touching although I know many people who still sneer at him and his music. Whatever anyone else thinks, I love them!
Listen to a snippet of their new track “Human”.
Album, Day & Age is scheduled for release on 24th November 2008 from Vertigo label.

I am addicted to the latest Kings of Leon song…seriously cannot get it out of my head! Unfortunately I still only know the chorus!
