Warning: Lesbian Vampire Killers alert
Amidst the film reviews, let’s have a preview. Or, perhaps, a warning message: avoid this film at all costs.
It’s called Lesbian Vampire Killers, and unfortunately, no – it’s not a lesbian version of Buffy. Wait, Buffy is so lesbionic.. I mean, it’s not a self-regarding parody of modern lesbian life. From the trailers, it appears to desperately need to belong to the school of American Pie and Superbad.
The film is set in a Welsh village where “the menfolk” have lost “their women” to a hoarde of predatory lesbo bloodsuckers. Cue two nerdy teenage boys who are to be used as vampire bait. The posters and trailers are peppered with thumbs-up, artificially-enhanced boobs and grinning geeks, so you can imagine the clever “plot twist” that’s in store for the intended (teenage male) demographic.
The one thing that peeves me most (well, maybe..) is that pubescent boys the world over have hijacked a fabulous film title that should be ours, dammit..!

Oh dear sweet Jesus, that better be a film so laden with self-aware irony that it’s buckling under the weight of it.
The “two nerdy teenage boys who are to be used as vampire bait” are James Corben and Matthew Horne from Gavin and Stacey, so maybe we can hold out some hope.
But can we, though? Can we??!
