Get Active, Get Equal: Direct Action for LGBTQ Rights
By sheer coincidence, during the Amazon palaver, I spotted a post about an upcoming event in Dublin on American blog, Queers United, of all places.
I completely forgot about it, until John (kive09) on Twitter dropped the organisers a message yesterday.
A new group called EQUALS is organising a “Non-Violent Direct Action Training Day” this Saturday, 25th April 2009:
They describe themeselves as:
Equals are an independent, non-violent campaigning group that acts to change attitudes and behaviour by promoting fairness for LGBTQ people living in Ireland.
That’s about all I can find out about the group. I’m curious to know what Saturday’s meeting will involve, but as I’m moving to a new apartment (ooh!), I probably won’t be able to join them.
Does anyone know anything else about EQUALS? They don’t appear to have any contact details on their blog (apart from comments). Are you familiar with them, or are you directly involved in the group? Drop us a line!

I don’t know about this new group but I think I’ll head along on Saturday to see what it’s all about.
Oh, cool – keep us posted!
