A Suppa Earl Gae

With just over a week to go to the Eurovision, we here at Gaelick are all aflutter with anticipation. Okay, so I mean a royal ‘we’ since my fellow Gaelickers aren’t as interested as I am with the competition. So I won’t go on about, it but I would ask that you get behind Sinead and Black Daisy as they go and represent us next Thursday in the second semi-final. There will be more on the Eurovision at a later date :)

Let’s start with something that’s happening this evening if you are in Dublin’s fair city. Pantibar are hosting a table quiz to raise funds for Lisa Connell, our very own LGBT candidate in the local elections. View Details here
Gaelick are hoping to profile her soon. In the meantime, get thee down to Pantibar for a night of fun and frolics and all for a good cause.

I couldn’t find any really decent articles on the news about the 17 year-old Australian teen who recently won a court battle to have his breasts removed. I mean look at this headline? Teenage girl who wants to be a boy wins right to have breasts removed

If you want to read a decent summary and take on it, check out Brielle’s commentary over on sugarandmedicine.wordpress.com Readers Show Compassion For Transgender: Australian Court Grants Teen Breast Removal

A good news week for the lesbians with Kelly McGillis making our news week. Read Orange’s report on it. Have a moment. I love a woman in uniform. I should really include a pic. No Really. I insist. One also wonders was there any truth then to the rumours about Kelly breaking Jodie’s heart during the filming of The Accused? Seeing as they both happen to prefer women now…I’m only saying like.

Staying with celebrities, or should I say sub-lebrities, Marie Osmand said I love and support my lesbian daughter. Good for her but why is it newsworthy? It’s not like the Osmands are top of the charts or are media darlings. But then I read this:

Though the interviewer posed the question to be a sensitive issue knowing Osmond’s Mormon faith, Osmond wasn’t shy to speak openly about supporting her lesbian daughter.

“You know on those types of things I’m very supportive. When it comes to marriage, I think that civil rights need to be for all. When you start mixing religion into that and beliefs, you know, I do believe in the Bible. My daughter understands my beliefs

Go Marie! That’s a pic of her and a doll by the way and not her daughter ;)

Like ying and yang, we get good press and we get bad press. Girls Aloud Singer Cheryl Cole Kissed And Bitten By Lesbian Fan

According to The Sun, “The hysterical fan, who wore a brace on her teeth, ran off shouting: “I kissed Cheryl, I kissed Cheryl” – not realising she had accidentally bitten the beauty.

I stopped reading after According to The Sun ;)

Speaking of trashy tabloids, the News of the World ‘broke’ the amazing news that P!nk declared to the world that she’s bi. The world reacted with shock. If you go here

Some headlines

Now Pink denies being bisexual
Pink likes the ladies but not that way. No, really
‘Who Knew’ singer Pink: I’m NOT bisexual
Pink Rubbishes ‘Fabricated’ Bisexual Claims On Twitter

Who knew and who cares! She’s P!nk, she’s fab. Does it matter if it’s men and women or men she prefers?

And finally…if you’re lucky, or unlucky enough depending on how you view things, to be above a DD in bra size, you won’t be a happy shopper with Marks and Sparks, Marks & Spencer refuses to budge on bra surcharge. I have to say I was surprised. Marks usually top most polls regarding ethical shopping, value for money and the conform in knowing that what you’ve bought hasn’t been hand-stitched by small children in a shed somewhere. There’s now a Facebook group calling for Marks to stop the extra charge:

The Busts 4 Justice group introduction reads: “Britain boasts of its fairness, and M&S boasts of its absolute Britishness. Busts 4 Justice argue that the price equality that rules our outer garments should apply to our undergarments too.

“Busty ladies, and anyone else with a vested interest in busty ladies, in fact anyone with a vested interest in simple justice, join forces to end this blatant discrimination.”

Can I just say, inspired title for the group Busts 4 Justice :) I like to keep you abreast of the news.

What do you think? Are we being ripped off or are Marks justified in charging extra? Which side do you support?
