A Suppa Earl Gae

Good morning Gaelickers, what a quiet week it’s been, well perhaps just for us here at Gaelick. Rest assured we are working away on some lovely articles for you, but with some of the team offline, I don’t know how we are surviving. We are limited to a couple of writers so we ask you to bear with us whilst we try to keep you informed on all things lesbian and bisexual as best we can. We shall be back to full strength soon so keep reading.

Now, onto what’s making the news and views this week with our lovely ladies and men of the rainbow world. Those good ole Russians really know how to welcome people to their country for the big musical fest that is the Eurovision by arresting people who protested. One guy was arrested for walking down the street with a transvestite. I wonder if he sashayed would he have been okay? Hmmm. Read all about it here. Quote of the week goes to the youthful winner from Norway, Alexander Rybak.

As Rybak said: “Why did [the police] spend all their energy stopping gays in Moscow when the biggest gay parade was here tonight?”

Amen brother!

Our favourite red-head from Sex in the City is off the market as she annouces her engagement to her long-term partner Christine Marinoni.

Is it national out yourself as a bisexual month or something? First P!nk, then Megan Fox and now Fergie? The singer not the princess by the way.

“Put it this way, I’ve experimented definitely, but I have never had a steady girlfriend,” Fergie, who married Josh Duhamel in January, told The Sun newspaper in the UK.

Ah, experimented. Haven’t we all ;) Seriously though, is it a case of them trying to make the headlines by making some shocking annoucement regarding their sexuality or do you believe them when they say they are bi? Reading further into the ‘article’ in the daily Telegraph I see this.

“You’ll like our next video, for I Got A Feeling, because I have a little girl-on-girl tease section of the video”.

Hmm. Shamless promotion of her music? As if!
Next.
From music to politics with the examiner.com posting this thought-provoking article Obama nominates lesbian Jenny Durkan as U.S. attorney: A step toward legar same-sex marriage?. This paragraph in particular :

Now, the question will need to be asked why do we not see stories of gay male couple openly living with their children? There’s Rosie and her partner – openly raising kids, but where are the men doing this?

The answer is obvious. They may be raising children, but they’re keeping a low profile because such men are instantly branded perverts or worse. This type of sexual discrimination has been going on forever, but it may take a turn for becoming even more open if and when Durkan is confirmed.

Onto some news items of a more serious note from the BBC, Church holds landmark gay service.

It is the oldest church in Belfast but it broke new ground at the weekend with its defence of gay people.
A service to mark International Day Against Homophobia was held at St George’s Church of Ireland Church.

In Singapore, Singapore’s gay community holds first-ever rally

Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng told the state-owned New Paper on Friday that gay people “have a place in our society” but warned they must “not assert themselves stridently as gay groups do in the West.”

Us western gays, we’re all feather boas, loud music and sex. Down with that sort of thing.

Yes, you may be sick of her but for the headline alone I had to post it. Lindsay, Samantha may reunite as lesbian couple As opposed to? Reuniting as a straight couple? As BFFs? As partners in crime?
