Álainn or Appalling – Sharon Ní Bheoláin

For those of you flummoxed by the surname Ni Bheoláin, it’s Irish for Boland is pronounced Nee Vway-lawn.

For years Sharon has been a singular reason to learn Irish and is currently the only good thing on the news. Who cares if the economy is fecked and the government are a bunch of muppets when you can hear it from her sweet lips?

Our Sharon (now 44 would you believe!!) has an honours degree in Irish and was a teacher for a while back in the 90s. However, Fate tipped her on her shoulder and whispered “would you ever get on telly and brighten things up?” and off she obediently hopped to host Nuacht (the news in Irish).

Since then she has become the 6 o’clock news anchor and cheered up a nation.

Tit-bit A friend of a friend of a friend does yoga with Sharon and says she’s lovely….and bendy

Here she is looking chic but is strangly silent…speak woman that we hear thy ducet tones:

Here she is talking and sporting a goth look

I can’t find any vids of her speaking as Gaeilge (in Irish). Can you help?
