Katherine Lynch at Vicar Street
Earlier in the month a few friends and I went to see Katherine Lynch in Vicar Street, Dublin. I have to admit to only seeing a couple of episodes of her Wonder Women show on RTE but having seen her do various acts on the scene for years I was really looking forward to this show.
We took our seats at around 7.30pm, Leinster had just won the big rugby match in Croke Park, so the atmosphere was great. Most people had been out for most of the day and were in great spirits. The support act was very good and got a few laughs but it was Katherine we were there to see.
She entered by the back of the auditorium and walked through the crowd, in character, slagging everyone off and from that moment on I didn’t stop laughing. She did various songs and skits and what was really impressive was that while she changed into her various outfits she had a tape play on stage of her different characters being interviewed and it was just side splitting.
My favourite of her creations, Liz Hurley, was there of course and embarrassed some poor women who was dragged on stage – I thought I’d die laughing.
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this show but I wasn’t disappointed and would recommend you pop along when the next opportunity arises. Ireland’s answer to Catherine Tate
