Paco’s Men and Pepa’s Lady

marian-aguileraI miss lesbians. The telly kind. We haven’t had a good ‘have to watch it’ lesbian romance on the box in many a year. Ok there was The L Word but other than that leztravaganza, think about it, when was the last time you had to watch? On UK telly there was Skins, in Oz there were Charlie and Joey and what a let down that was. Other than that? Anyone? See my dilemma?

So it is with much humility that I thank the scary instuition of YouTube. How did it know to recommend Los Hombres de Paco? How did it know that I’d fall in love? The scary Big Brotherness of the situation lasted just moments, right up until I clicked. Hooo mama! Thank you YouTube!

Los Hombres de Paco (Paco’s Men) is a Spanish comedy/soapy drama about a police station run by Paco, the nicest guy in the world, surrounded by pretty terrible police-offcers who seem to solve cases by accident. His boss is the constantly-about-to-blow-a-gasket Don Lorenzo. Don Lorenzo’s daughter is Silvia, played by the muy caliente Marián Aguilera (above right). Silvia is divorced from Lucas who is Paco’s ward and the troubled, deep, brooding man of the picture. Boring! However, in Season 7 of Los Hombres de Paco, Paco’s estranged sister, Pepa, comes to town.

Upon her arrival, Paco is only delighted she’s back and they can make amends, but Don Lorenzo seems even more disgruntled than usual. Why? Well, put the kettle on and pull up a chair. You see it seems that 10 years previous, Pepa and Silvia (who were 18 at the time) made a holy show of him by snogging at their niece’s communion. And when Pepa comes back into town, it’s pretty damn clear that she would like to pick up where they left off.

The peeps in Antena 3 are a pack of geniuses. For what did they do when it came to casting Pepa? They went for one of Spain’s most famous super-models, Laura Sanchez ( above left). Thank you Antena 3! However, Kumarian_laurados must go to Sanchez as she has proven herself to be much more than just a very pretty face. Girl can act! Plus, she has taken the role very seriously, commenting on how playing a lesbian character has made women come up to her and tell her their stories. She’s now a huge supporter of gay rights.

Do you want the best news of all? Well some wonderful, beautiful, higher being names pepsienglish has subtitles all of the scenes between Pepa and Silvia. Don’t you just love her?! The subtitled scenes involved just our girls, but she has recapped all of the scenes in English for those of us who aren’t cunning linguists.

So, if you have a few hours to spare enjoy click here and I dare you not to be hooked. Seriously, I’m up to date at post 47 and am chomping at the bit for the next one.
