Wonder Woman – The Musical
The annual international Dublin gay theatre festival is over for another year and well done to everyone involved. This year saw the festival advertised on the radio as well as some really interesting posters popping up all over the city. The festival boasted a long list of interesting plays and musicals which were hosted in venues of varying size and location all over the city centre. You can read our preview here.
I couldn’t resist going to see Wonder Woman – The Musical which was on in OutHouse. It was a one woman show and I have to say it was really good fun. Diana has reinvented herself as a karaoke-style lounge singer on her “Magic Lasso Comeback Tour” and shares with us her thoughts on her fans, her life and of course, Steve Trevor. Anyone who watched Lynda Carter’s TV show would love this piece but to be far, you wouldn’t have to have been a fan to enjoy it.
Unfortunately, the crowd weren’t very interactive, you know us Irish, hiding behind each other in the hopes she doesn’t “pick me”. I think this show would have been even better if the audience let themselves get more involved.
I have heard some rave reviews of other plays that were on so if anyone was at some events and would like to share, we’d love to hear from you.
Congrats to all those who worked on this years festival, it’s wonderful to have such an event hosted here and I hope they are all taking a well earned rest for the next while.
