A load of aul’ ballots
Tell us you’re ready to vote today – go on, ya will.. Yes, folks, it’s local and European election time – plus, if you’re very lucky, bye-election time in parts of Dublin, too!
And here on Gaelick, we’re going to try to do our part by bringing to you the tallies and results as they’re announced, between the speculation that will proabably emerge today, and over the weekend. So, stay tuned to this here post and our live blog at ScribbleLive!
In particular, you might want to keep an eye on the how the respondents (and those who couldn’t be arsed responding) to the MarriagEquality survey fare. Take a peek at what they have to say about us homosexualists here.
So, please feel free to post your thoughts at our ScribbleLive event here or else in the comments below.

So.. so far, some main points to note are that turnout generally seems to be high.
Apparently the exit pollsters were out and about, too, so we may get the first indications soon!
In other news, the Dutch and British elections have seen gains – some significant – for extremist parties. (It all very post-Treaty of Versaille to me – economic ruin, far-right politics: scary stuff.)
Election coverage on RTÉ and The Irish Times, to name but a few.

George Lee has just been declared TD in Dublin South bye-election (via KrayZpaving).
Delighted to see the Greens lose all their Dublin seats and it looks like the same is happening elsewhere in the country. Bunch of spineless feckers.
And chuffed for Maureen O’Sullivan getting Dublin Central. Hope she continues to keep Tony Gregory’s spirit and ethos alive and well.
Agreed Shelly, I’m over the moon about O’Sullivan…we must live close to each-other
As for the Greens…are they a viable party now? Or should they fold?
I hear a motion of no confidence is to be tabled tomorrow. Does anyone really believe it’ll go through? I dunno but I think FG and Lab feel they have to table it but neither want the poison chalice of government
It’s weird, it’s like the Greens have gone the way of the PDs – it must be the curse of the minority party in govt with FF (the teflon party).
Oh yeah, will try to get another post up about the election results this evening, after I return from the land of no internets (the workplace), so stay tuned!
