Skins Season 3

skinsHaving been shown earlier in the year on E4,  the third season of the show Skins will now be shown on Channel 4 (Wed 11pm).  I have to admit to not watching either season 1 or 2 but upon hearing that season 3 would have a lesbian storyline I was sucked in.

I won’t say too much but basically Skins is a show about a group of teenagers as they go through a year at Roundview College.  Two characters are carried over from the first two seasons but it is basically a new group.  Amongst them are twins, Katie and Emily.  Katie thinks she’s God’s gift while Emily seems to walk two steps behind in her shadow.

Upon walking into the college the twins meet the other major protagonists of the show, one of which is Naomi.  Katie decides to reveal to everyone in earshot that at a previous party Naomi tried to kiss her sister, Emily, and it is from this point on that I became interested!

skins_leadLet’s be honest, this is a show for teenagers and at the ripe old ages of 33 I felt about 133 at times watching it, but I think it’s wonderful to see a gay character go through what many of us did, and for her path to be dealt with with some real conviction.  You really do care about these characters and that is rare.

I’d recommend you watch this one no matter how young or old you are.  If you don’t like the whole thing just pop onto YouTube where someone has kindly put all the scenes of interest up for you to enjoy.

I for one, am looking forward to Season 4, which will be shown in 2010.
