A Suppa Earl Gae
Well did you see us? You couldn’t have missed us, our t-shirts were blindingly pink and our banner was fabulous
What a great Dublin Pride. Rumour has it it was the biggest so far with around 12,000 people turning out in all their gay attire. We had an amazing time and hope you did so too. For a change, it wasn’t the weather putting a dampener on things, but the governement with the annoucement that the civil partnership bill was “not a stepping stone to marriage”. Over on Shewired, they are reporting that Dukakis and Fricker Play Lesbian Couple in ‘Cloudburst’
The story focuses on a lesbian couple who have spent over 30 years living as lovers. One of the women had been committed to a nursing facility, and the couple decides to bust out.
I love both Olympia and Brenda so am really looking forward to this
Staying with the lesbian movie theme, Eva Green (Former Bond Girl) has said this in relation to her starring role in Cracks and kissing a woman.

It is exactly the same – it doesn’t make a difference whether it is a woman or a man
Surely not? You mean it’s acting and the gender doesn’t matter? It’s almost like it was her job or something :O Being paid to kiss women. Where do I sign up
The former Bond Girl portrays a 1930s boarding school teacher who seduces one of her female pupils in forthcoming film Cracks, but wasn’t phased by acting opposite someone of the same sex.
Like that theme hasn’t been covered before. Upon more research, it’s a tough job people, I found out that CRACKS is a co-production between Irish production company Element Pictures (Garage, The Wind That Shakes The Barley) and UK production companies Scott Free (American Gangster, Gladiator) and Future Films (Flawless, Goodbye Bafana).
Interesting. We here at Gaelick have our eyes peeled for when it opens.
To current affairs where its good news for our brothers and sisters in India with this report from Pinknews.co.uk
The Delhi High Court today ruled that a ban on gay sex between adults violates India’s constitution.
YAY! I found this article from the santabanta.com website and think that it could do as a handbook guide to all things LGBT, sort of a dummy’s-guide if you will. This quote made me smile.
Friends, basically sexuality is a part of you. Whether God made you straight/gay doesn’t matter … what matters is what you have achieved and done … people should remember you with pride, inspiration and love even centuries after you are gone. That is more important.
Staying with current affairs, bad news from Northern Ireland where PinkNews reports Northern Ireland MP Iris Robinson cleared over homophobic “abomination” comments
Just to recap what the lovely lady said in relation to us
The MP for Strangford made the remarks on an Ulster radio show last year and also told the Belfast Telegraph that homosexuality was “comparable” to paedophilia.
She told the radio show that homosexuality was a mental illness and could be “cured”.
In a report obtained by the News Letter, assembly ombudsman Tom Frawley said: “This case does not warrant any further action in terms of the [assembly] code.”
Muppet.
The Times reports on Gay Icons at the National Portrait Gallery
The exhibition’s power doesn’t come from the images, but from the juxtaposition of so many lives and influences. Alan Hollinghurst includes the poet Thom Gunn (cockily handsome, in leather jacket in the 1950s), Warhol muse Joe Dallesandro and “radical homosexualiser” Ronald Firbank. Sir Elton John’s selection is lively, from the piano player Winifred Atwell to Gianni Versace and John Lennon. Sir Elton’s choice also includes the show’s strangest selection: Graham Taylor, the former manager of Watford FC.
Yes they did pick Graham Taylor. Perhaps I’m missing something there..Gay icon? Hmmm..
Let’s nip over to Poland where AP reports on Poland and its openly gay rabbi
Katz is certainly an anomaly in conservative Poland, where to be either Jewish or gay is challenge enough — at least outside the cities. Of a population of 38 million, about 5,000 are registered as Jews, while thousands more have part-Jewish ancestry, and some have returned to their roots since Poland shed its communist dictatorship.
“I introduce him as my partner they say, ‘Oh he’s also a rabbi?’” Katz said. “When I say ‘my partner’ they think I mean like in business. So I say ‘no, no, no, we are living together.’”
Staying with good news, the BBC has an article on Debbie Davies who has won her right to surgery under the NHS.
A transsexual from Nottinghamshire has won her fight with the NHS to be given hormone treatment and surgery to change sex from a man to a woman.
Debbie Davies, from Rainworth, had previously been on hunger strike over the lack of funding for her treatment.
and finally the Advocate reports on Pop, the Gender-Free Child A really interesting idea..
A Swedish couple are refusing to reveal the gender of their 2-year-old child. In an interview with Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, the parents said they believe gender is a social construction and their decision is rooted in feminist philosophy.
