A suppa earl gae

Jul 16th, 2009 | By webmaster | Category: This and That

It’s all go here with the Gaelickers. Whilst it may look quiet at the moment, I can hear the clatter of typing and the faint tune of the Indigo Girls wafting through the air. So what’s making the lesbian headlines at the moment? I really feel that,  as a lesbian living in Dublin, I should share with you the fact that Arnotts, the department store, are having a sale. 50% off. Now I don’t know about you, my lovely reader, but I have seen many a first lesbian date in the homeware section of Arnotts. Go in there on any given day and you’re sure to spot a sister.

“To the news and stop talking madness!” I hear you holler. Right let’s start with the bishops of the Episcopal Church. Good news for them as they

agreed to a compromise measure that stops short of developing an official rite for same-sex unions, but gives latitude to bishops who wish to go ahead and bless such unions, particularly in states that have legalized such marriages.

Over two days of debate, some bishops said they felt compelled to act because of their pastoral responsibility to gay couples who were increasingly coming forward to ask the church to bless their unions. Many also said they saw it as a simple matter of granting equal rights to gay men and lesbians.

Sticking with news of the good variety, it was refreshing to see most of the media using the correct pronouns with the news that IT Entrepreneur, Kate Craig-Wood Named In Management Today’s ’35 Women Under 35’ 2009 List. Even The Telegraph had a somewhat positive take on it. Try to ignore, if you can, the shocked “You’d never know”  comments.

Great opinion piece in the Irish Times today from the lovely Fiona McCann

In the end marriage doesn’t belong to the church, the Constitution or any single, immutable definition any more than a woman belongs to a man when she weds him. The connotations of the word changed long ago and continue to change: it’s time for the State to catch up.

If only everyone thought the same thing, Fiona.

According to the people at medical news today Lesbian Women Feel Less Pressure To Have A ‘perfect’ Body

A study that investigated whether a woman’s sexuality is related to her satisfaction with her appearance and eating behaviour is being presented today, 15th July 2009 at the British Psychological Society Psychology of Women’s Section annual conference.

I reported a week or so ago on Lithuania and the passing of that ridiculous law on the Protection of Minors Against the Detrimental Effect of Public Information. All that is left is for the president to sign. A press release from UK Gay news states Lithuanian Anti Gay Law Puts New President in Impossible Position

This means that President Grybauskaite, the former European Commissioner for Financial Programming and the Budget, has to approve it within three days – the same number of days she has been President. She has no choice. The constitution says she must.

It is known that she disapproves of the law – she is even on the record as saying she will never sign a law which breached fundamental human rights.

We can only watch and wait.

From politics to the small screen and I’d advise you to put down the cuppa whilst I run through the next few headlines cause girl you are going to be shocked with a capital S.

Apparently 90210 is to get a lesbian. I know. I was amazed too. All those years watching Beverly Hills 90210 and loving Andrea. Remember her? On the right is a then and now shot. Actually she looks a lot like Laura Ingalls Wilder or what was her name again? Melissa Glibert.

Anyway, before I lost in a vortex of 80s nostalgia and alienate our younger readers who think I’ve inhaled too much green tea, back to the story.

According to PA Rumer Willis to guest star on 90210. Not just any ole actress but Demi and Bruce’s youngster. And isn’t she the spit of Mama?

A spokeswoman for the CW network said the 20-year-old will guest star in one episode as “a punky, cute lesbian who isn’t afraid to speak her mind”.

One wonders how much ‘lesbian action’ she’ll get. Staying with the “I can’t believe this made the news” angle. Amy Adams tricked into a lesbian kiss. I couldn’t make this stuff up. For those of you unfamiliar with the lovely Miss Adams, she can be currently seen in Sunshine Cleaning with Emily Blunt.

I’m not the first or last who’s been bamboozled by a surprise lesbian kiss in a movie, I’m sure,” Fox News [^] quoted her as telling Allure.

How do you have a surprise kiss in a movie? Isn’t it their job to read the script? Perhaps that part was left out? Did the ‘lesbian’ hide behind a plant or something and jump out at her?
Perhaps Crimeline should investigate. * rolls eyes * I still like you Amy ya ould eejit. Just don’t go around saying things like that and we’ll be fine. Call me, yeah?
