Alainn or Appalling – Emma Watson

emmaShe’s 19 people, it’s ok.

A certain generation of young lesbian grew up with young Emma, watching her in the Harry Potter films with an odd interest they didn’t understand at the time. Now, the English beauty has blossomed into a gorgeous young woman and the reason for the interest it’s obvious.

Emma was just 9 when she was cast in the first Harry Potter film and, since then has won several awards and earned more than stg£10 million.

She has also been winning hearts, and not just for her looks. Over the course of the Harry Potter series, her character Hermione (famously based on the author, JK Rowling, as a young girl) has become a firm favourite and directors have been accused of under-employing her in favour of other characters.

While  the other child-actors had been labelled wooden and the films likened to watching a school play, Watson has universally been lauded. After the launch of The Prisoner of Azkaban, The New York Times said:

“Luckily Mr. Radcliffe’s blandness is offset by Ms. Watson’s spiky impatience. Harry may show off his expanding wizardly skills … but Hermione … earns the loudest applause with a decidedly unmagical punch to Draco Malfoy’s deserving nose”

They went on to say that, in The Goblet of Fire film she was “touchingly earnest”.

Emma has also acted in The Ballet Shoes and The Tales of Despereaux, but has put non-Potter acting duties on the back burner so that she can concentrate on her studies.  It doesn’t mean that there is no time for anything else though, and she is currently the face of Burberry fashion.

She recently aced her A-levels and there is much gossip-mungering about which college she will attend. She has been reticent on the subject saying:

I want to be normal. I really want anonymity. I want to do it properly, like everyone else. As long as I don’t walk in and see Harry Potter posters everywhere, I’ll be fine. People can’t understand why I don’t want to [abandon studying]… but school life keeps me in touch with my friends. It keeps me in touch with reality.”

Not only is she a real beauty, but she’s smart and is the type of girl you could bring home to meet the parents. So what do you think?
