Imagine. It’s been 15 years since Sandy stole the show from Keanu in Speed. Since then, the girl everyone wishes lived next door has made a name for herself as that thing that’s gold in Hollywood – a bankable star.

Her career started out the same way as thousands of others. She left high school, after being voted “Most Likely To Brighten Up Your Day” by her class. Studied acting in college, moved to New York and worked as waitress while going to auditions. She had blink and you’ll miss her parts in all sorts of awful TV shows until eventually making it big with Speed.

Unlike some stars Sandy has never forgotten herself, and is scathing of how famous people act.

I hate the word assistant. What is that? “Where’s my assistant? I need to wipe myself”. Well then wipe yourself godammit! I work with people and people woth with me, we’re a team.

She is also, by her own admission “a terrible celebrity”.

If I am out in public I dress like a pig. I have no desire to maintain a lifestyle. All fame means anyway is that when your computer modem is broken, the repair guy comes out to your house a little faster.

After feeling stuck in a rut in the late 90s, Sandy decided to leave the movie scene and rethink things. When she did, she met Jesse James the tattooed host of Motorcycle Mania and the former series Monster Garage on the Discovery Channel. The two married in 2005 and Sandra is now step-mom to his three children. They may seem an unlikely couple but:

Thankfully I married someone who loves me just the way I am –- and all the nuttiness that goes into me. My greatest joy is making our home what it’s supposed to be. Being a good wife, a good stepmom, a good current wife to the ex-wife. We’re a family.

On screen Sandra makes acting look easy. She engages with the audience in a way that comedic actors would kill for. All she has to do it quirk and eyebrow or grin and she’ll have you rooting for her.
