However, what worries me is all the random straight people who don't know any gay people, and have pre conceived stereoptyped notions of gay men and what they are like, will all find those notions thoroughly reinforced after seeing Bruno. Take a gang of Dublin teenage boys going to see it - what if one of them is worried about being gay? He will definitely have problems coming out if all his mates equate being gay with Bruno... See I get where you're coming from but I have to say I was insulted watching it. I know the thought behind it is that it's just fun and I agree with that. But this is the only gay character we have onscreen at the moment, so there is noone telling people that this isn't "a comment on the gay community". But then this film wan't made for someone like me, it's just not my thing.
