Strike a Pose

munson_cowgirlWhether the term ‘calendar girl’ evokes images of 50′s pin-ups, half-naked models or fully naked members of the Women’s Institute, recent years have seen much-needed glamour injected into our annual almanacs.

Now you can do a Helen Mirren (and who wouldn’t like to?), by posing in a charity calendar. Not just any old thing either but the first ever Irish Lesbian Charity Calendar. What? It warrants capitals.

That ladies over at thepinkcalendar.com are looking for your input. So whip out your camera and get clicking. What do you think represents lesbian, queer, bi, trans/whatever your having yourself Ireland?

According to the organisers:

The Pink Calendar was set up to celebrate the diversity of lesbian women in Ireland. This is about expression and creativity and it’s about women having the opportunity to portray themselves in anyway they want.

mirrencalendarAnyway you want ladies! So take a pic or get a pic taken of you looking only gorgeous and enter the photograph for a chance to be on the calendar every lesbian will be buying and getting for Christmas this year.

Want more? Well, you demanding little thing, all proceeds from the calendar will be split between LGBT Noise and BeLonG To, so you can pretend you’re doing it for charity and not engaging in blatant self-promotion.

The Pink Calendar will be having a launch night at CaKe in the Academy on Middle Abbey Street in Dublin, on September 12th. If you like your photo taken all professional like, there will be a professional photog there with a specially designed studio inviting people to have their photos taken. It is also CaKe’s 1st birthday that night so it really promises to be a fantastic time.

  • So, it’s not a nudey calendar? Sounds like a worthwhile project: It’s always good to increase lesbian visibility.
