YouTube Junkie

It all started earlier this year when I read an article about ABC cutting a lesbian character from their hit show Grey’s Anatomy.  I decided to go onto YouTube and watch all of her episodes.  At around the same time my sister sent me the YouTube link to the scenes between two lesbian characters on a Spanish TV show, Los Hombres de Paco.  From this point on I have become a YouTube junkie.  Every time I log in YouTubes asks me if I want to set my language to Spanish as I have watched this show so much.  The lovely people at YouTube also like to suggest TV shows I might like, of course, in my case they are as gay as can be.

otaliaSo in the last nine months or so I have stopped watching TV almost completely and am totally addicted to YouTube. I have watched all of the interesting scenes from Skins and have since become a massive fan of another Spanish show called “Hospital Central” and an American soap opera “Guiding Light”.  In fact last Saturday I stayed up till 6am watching it, it’s just brilliant.   I know I should be embarrassed by this but I’m not – so there.  Who knew an American Soap could have such a deep storyline?

I am now eagerly awaiting September when the next season of two of my shows start and am constantly on the look hospital-centralout for more to watch.  This is the great thing about YouTube, you can watch TV shows from around the world and there is always some nice lesbian out there ready to edit all the crap out so you only have to watch the storyline you’re interested in.  I also have to thank the extra special lesbians out there who put up subtitles for those of us who can barely speak one language.

So who needs a TV when there is all this out there on the net?  I’d love to get some recommendations from any of you – what shows, if any, do you watch in this way and do you prefer it to watching them on TV?  Let us know what you think.

  • Addict! I told you Guiding Light was good! No kissage as of yet and it seems they have desexualized the couple!

  • I don’t think they have desexualised them, I think they were stuck with one of the actresses being so heavily pregnant that they had to write her out of it for her maternity leave, so they had to slow the whole thing down.
I loved the whole wedding episode – fab
I think when Nat comes back it’ll steam up again

  • I hardly ever watch proper tv either – while I’m not as obsessed with youtube as some people:), I much prefer box sets of tv shows and trashy films to actually regularly watching summit on rte or the like…while that might have something to do with the fact that my cable tv has a seizure when the internet is being used, I don’t miss it at all.
Throw in all the football I watch online and that tv license is starting to look like a right waste o money!

  • Thank Whoever for YouTube! I wouldn’t be the person I’m now if it wasn’t for the chance to discover “the other side” thanks for some incredible people who share their videos!
Btw, I adore Hospital Central :-)
