I haven’t seen it yet so I’ll reserve judgment until I do. But at first glance at the website, it looks fresh and fancy.
Its tiny!! And the current letters page is composed of two obituries and 2 short letters, which is a shame as I thought the wide selection of letters they used to publish was one of the better features of the magazine.
I used to have to hide my copy of GCN before I came out but I wouldn’t have worried about hiding this one from my parents. At first glance there seems to be an emphasis on fashion, celebrity and music and the cover does resemble a Sunday tabloid magazine. GCN was always instantly recognisable because of its size, I wonder how much difference the smaller issues will make, if any.
I accidently hit the wrong button but i think the website luks really gud and its updated regularly which is great
Ooh, just checked out the GCN site, now that you’ve mentioned it, Liv. (I’d only seen the new magazine, in t’pub.)
It’s going to take some getting used to, with the new website layout. I’m resistant to change!
(etc.)
I kinda like the new design. The paper choice might prove to be regrettable since it’s supposed to circulate for a month and is unlikely to survive a few days but it’s still colourful and glossy and the new size is far handier for stuffing into your bag. One wee criticism, some of the articles are difficult to discern from adverts because they look a bit busy with borders and bells and whistles but overall, I like the revamp and the type choices.
