Not at all, Karl, you're most welcome.

(This morning I had the awful realisation that everyone will be subjected to my hideously unprepared speech again - apologies once again and in advance!) : )

I won't be able to make it myself, unfortunately (due to being a sick puppy, but mortification can't be ruled out!), but a couple of the other Gaelickers will be in attendance. (If anyone spots them, say hello!) Glad to hear that there will be snippets on YouTube, too - some of the speeches were really excellent.

Looking forward to finding out about this year's GALAS!

I hope you don't mind me using this as a 'promotional' opportunity. Some of your readers and followers may like to know that the video of the GALAS 2009 will be shown on Tuesday 30th March at 7.30pm in PantiBar.
Anyone who read the report of the event here on the blog, and is sorry they missed it, will have the opportunity to seeing it in full. It was truly a memorable night and a real celebration of the achievements of LGBT community here in Ireland.
The evening will also include the announcement of details for the 2010 GALAS. For anyone who is unable to make the screening, we will be publishing the video in sections on YouTube. But if you can come along to the public screening we would love to see you there to celebrate with the 2009 award recipients.
Very soon we will be accepting nominations for the 2010 GALAS. If you would like to make any nominations you can do so via the website: www.galas.ie

I know! When I read that, I was wondering did someone submit it as a joke?!

That fecker who legislated in 2004 to discriminated against same-sex couples.

@ Áine - Many thanks for your comments, you're too kind!

Also, I agree with HAL: that is a great idea. I had wondered if the ceremony was itself a fundraiser, but there was nothing to suggest it was. Must see if I can follow that idea up with any other organisations and individuals!

What a great idea, to have next year's as a fundraiser. If the buzz about this year's ceremony is anything to go by, they'll be flogging tickets by the bucket load.

I see where you're coming from Aine, but I think the venue was full. I got an email from MarriagEquality about attending so I'm sure they sent mails out, can't speak for the other groups but I'm sure members must have been informed.

I think the evening was a great success and congrats to all the nominees. I agree, however, a larger venue for next year is in order - and isn't that a great conclusion to come to.

Many thanks to all those involved in organising the event and a heartfelt congrats to Katherine Zappone and Ann Louise Gilligan, whose grace and sincerity stole the show.

Dear Ladies,

Your acceptance speech was one the highlights simply because you were so genuinely shocked at winning! Well done to you all.

I did wonder why there was not a bigger turnout to support all the nominees, if you add up the long list; it probably exceeds the numbers that were in attendance? Was it the ticket price/location/ or the pre promotional emails informing people of the event? (I don't recall seeing any emails from LGBT Noise or Marriage Equality...I stand to be corrected on this?) A suggestion for next time around would be to use it as a fundraiser and try and attract a larger number of people.

Wonderful event and look forward to seeing it grow.
