SapphicWeb Part 1: Hospital Central Returns

All over the world lesbians are trying desperately to keep the smiles off their faces and failing miserably. Maca and Esther of Hospital Central will be returning to Spanish TV tomorrow, Oct 27th, and soon after to YouTube with English subtitles.
Messages boards, forums and YouTube channels have been awash with the question “When will Season 18 of Hospital Central be aired?”, we had been told September but that came and went and with it the grapevine went crazy. I have had mails from women in the four corners of the world telling me this date and that date and asking me for confirmation – none of us knew for sure and at one point I thought it’d all reach a critical mass and the web would explode from the frustration of it all.
Last week, however, we all got the message we had craved, the TV station in Spain had confirmed and we’re all ready to get our fix like a bunch of crazed lunatics! If you can’t wait ladies, you can see the first two minutes here (no subtitles).
So why all the fuss? Well for those of you who don’t know Maca and Esther’s storyline began in season 8, yes, that’s 10 seasons ago, and in that time they have gotten married and had three children. Both cheated on each othe
r but subsequently got back together in one of the best TV story lines I’ve ever seen. Poor Esther has been in a helicopter crash and had a roof fall on top of her and Maca has been diagnosed with MS and held at gunpoint in a jewelry robbery – I know – the drama of it all.
At the end of last season Esther had a crazy ex (we’ve all had one) virtually stalk her and in an attempt to stop her ex from killing herself with heart break our beloved Esther went out onto a high ledge after her to try to get her to come back in. Unfortunately for our happy couple her ex decided to pull poor Esther with her and to the horror of the international lesbian community, that my friends, is where that season ended!!!!!! So now you can see why we are all pulling our hair out waiting to see what happens.

It has been a long time since I have been genuinely waiting on a show to return and I have to say, I feel better knowing I’m not alone. The number of women (including me) who have this happy couple as their avatar on YouTube is 
hilarious but it also goes to show how this story line has really hit a nerve. It’s a real couple going through life together and they are treated by the writers and other characters alike, just as any other couple on the show, the fact they are gay is irrelevant, and I love that.
Fatima Baeza (Esther) and Patricia Vico (Maca) do a wonderful job and their chemistry is there for all to see. They have well and truly sucked us in and we have been with them through all their highs and lows. I am beside myself waiting on the next installment of their journey and once again have to thank all the women out there who do the translating and put up the subtitles for us, Rachelm42, RyanKasey etc , you’re my heroes

The translation team is ready to go, we’re just waiting for T5. I just do the timing of English dialogue to match the Spanish dialogue. It does take time so we always appreciate the patience of everyone who enjoys rachelm’s uploads. The real heroes here are the people who allow us to use their clips and the translators (all 5 of them) and ESPECIALLY rachelm42 who started this ten seasons ago all by herself. On a personal note, I hope M&E will continue for a long time. It has been interesting to see the evolution of their relationship and wonderful to witness the fact that true love eventually wins out…even for gays and lesbians. Television has be woefully remiss in allowing the general public to see that we can have successful and loving relationships. I look forward to another great season of HC and am glad to be a part of it all.

Gooner, great summation of the “magic” of M/E. Not to say the M/E relationship doesn’t have a heavy dose of melodrama, as the other relationships on HC, but I’ve always said that PV/FB rise above the written page with such a tangible connection making their relationship so palpable to the viewer. In fact, I find the subtlety in which they can express a wide-range of emotions… their non-communicative cues speak more than any word that could be verbally spoken. And through their ups and downs, break-up and make-ups, accidents and recoveries (we all know by now Esther is immortal, right *wink*)that connection can never be broken.
I along with the rest of M/E fans are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Season 18. So I send my special thanks to Rachel and her entire team to make M/E so accessible to a world-wide audience, as well as Spanish foros (most especially FB and M/E foros) that provide the latest news, and videos.
And by the newest HC “presentations” through articles and videos, it looks like both Maca and Esther will be undergoing this season (what’s new lol), but what’s clear throughout the struggles they will have the support of each other. Now if only Esther could remember some crucial details… well I’m sure Maca is up to the challenge, it’s not like she hasn’t had practice beforehand

I really would like to know how to watch hospital central videos in the order of their happening and in English. I have been trying to find an email to ask any of the translation team how to find these. Thanks so much to RachelM, RyanKasey, and if I am not wrong, Zoncear.

The only versions with English subs I know of are on Rachelm42’s channel on YouTube, i have not come across full episode with English subs anywhere and i have come across a few people looking

Well i now am totally engrossed in the Maca and Esther storyline and love them very much. I love that like u say, they are a normal couple and the fact they are two women, isnt even an issue, its so fresh to see. The love they share gives me hope that one day i will fall in love like they did.

The Spanish TV Station seems to be deleting or preventing Rachel and others to provide us with English Subs. for any or most of Season 18 of Hospital Central. Does anyone know why this is happening?
