The beaut.ies have a buke!
Oh holy hell.
I am in a severe state of recovery after far too many glasses of bubbly and mojitos last night. And why, oh why? It was to toast yesterday’s launch of “The Beaut.ie Guide to Gorgeous” by one half of the beaut.ie team, Aisling McDermott.
The launch took place in the weird world of Brown Thomas. (There’s an anthropological thesis on that place just begging to be written, I’m sure of it.. There are some things about straight girls I may never understand.)
The book compiles all kinds of tips and hints for those who want to pamper themselves or wow a crowd. And don’t worry, neither the book nor the blog promote some weird misogynistic view of female beauty or gorgeousness. Rather, the focus is on treating yourself, be it simply choosing the right moisturiser to keep your skin in tip-top shape, or choosing the right false eyelashes.
Whether you’re a stone butch dyke, a totally femme lipstick lesbot, or anywhere along the spectrum in between, there just may be something in this book for you. (Also, perhaps, drag queens might find it useful!) There are even tips on eco-friendly products, how to prepare your own DIY regime, and information on the tried and tested items of yore that just can’t be beat. Plus there are crucial tips on what to beware of and how to avoid damaging your goodself.
And if nothing else, I certainly have my end-of-year pagan festival pressie list sorted for all the straighty katies in my life.
Kudos to all involved – and click here for pics of the launch! (Any images of the post-launch debauchery have hopefully been destroyed..)
