BFW – Have a Play
As Budget-Free Wednesday continues in earnest on Gaelick, I thought that you could kill some time playing games while you listen to the bad news on the radio. Now there are many, many games on t’internet and all for free, whether you’re into wordplay, role-play or number play, there’s plenty to choose from.
Miniclip is really a one-stop-shop for all kinds of games, some of which are for kids, and none of them will have you engrossed, they’re really just to keep you entertained for a few minutes. There is one exception for those of you who love word games. Anagrammatic is an online version of Countdown, where you play other online. It’s great and will have you hooked.
For those with hours to spare while Brian roams on and on, making excuses for taking more money out of your pocket, maybe a mmorpg (Massive multiplayer online role-playing game) would be more your thing. Again there are lots, some of them are full of pimply noob-hating teenage boys but Runescape is a good one to start with. There are plenty of quests for you to try out and you won’t get killed the minute you log in. One I’ve just started is Evony (right), which is way to slow so avoid. There are lots more giving you the chance to be a Mafia gangster, a witch, a cowboy, pilot of a starship and many more try onrpg and freemmorpglist for a lists of what’s out there.
If you’re more of a traditionalist and just want a crossword or jigsaw, there’s a great choice of both. One that has me hooked at the moment is this play on a crossword from Militant Platypus, which has lots of other simple games too.
Just don’t spend too long listening to the Brians go on and on, you might completely lose it.
