The Queer’s Speech
Dec 25th, 2009 | By webmaster | Category: This and ThatAs I type this, the various writers and contributors who have kept you entertained and informed on all things lesbian over the last 12 months are quite possibly opening their various pressies under the tree, avoiding the grand-aunt who keeps asking about why they bring their ‘roommate’ “home every year and where’s that nice man you brought to your graduation/debs?” and generally relaxing I hope.
The celebrations have calmed down here at Gaelick’s virtual offices since the GALA award made its way into our paws. We really were overwhelmed just to nominated in such esteemed company, see Click Here’s much better description of the night and her various thank yous.
I smell your sprouts burning, put down the selection box and rescue them, they are the best part of Christmas dinner for me. Unless of course you are planning to sacrifice the poor sprouts? :O
Whilst Christmas is a time for celebration, it as, as Mary McAleese says, a time for reflection. So I’d like us to take this time to reflect sombrely on our gay brothers and sisters who live in other parts of the world where not only is it difficult for them to be openly gay, they could face death for just being themselves in what they thought was a safe environment or our trans friends.
According to Questioning Transphobia, every three days a trans-person is reported murdered.
Thank you all for your comments, your feedback, your drooling at some of our Álainn or Appalling girls and for making the site as fun as it is. The girls on the team have worked tirelessly on your behalf to make sure you have been kept up to date with articles covering the serious issues to the fun stuff to the truly bizzare .
On behalf of the Gaelick team I’d like to wish all our readers and their loved ones a very Happy and Gay Christmas and peaceful New Year.
