Civil Partnership Bill 2009 – Dáil Debate Resumes (again)

The Dáil is to resume its debate on the second stage of the Civil Partnership Bill 2009 – again – this Wednesday, 27th January 2010.

Last Thursday’s debate was cut a little short due to the addition of statements on Haiti by members of the house being included in the time-slot.

This Wednesday’s debate is scheduled to take place at some point between 11:29am and 1:30pm, although that will be shared with two other Bills to be debated first. We’ll try to establish a more exact time later!

To tune in:

  • The debate will be streamed live on the Oireachtas website here.
  • A Live Blog has again (again) been set up here. The Live Blog is accessible for anyone to comment directly, or else automatically via Twitter when you include the hashtag#cpbill“.

Here’s hoping once again that the live stream of the Oireachtas video (below) works for readers to follow the happenings!

UPDATE (27th Jan 2010 at 8:48am)
Carol Coulter writes in today’s Irish Times about “the unintended consequences of civil partnership.”

UPDATE 2 (27th Jan 2010 at 10:40am)
Word has filtered through from Gaelick’s own tabula rasa that today’s Dáil schedule may be disrupted due to the Taoiseach Brian Cowen’s current commitments in Northern Ireland. We can hope that the discussion of the Civil Partnership Bill will take place as planned, but the possibility is that it could be postponed. Stay tuned!
