It’s a constant complaint about the gay scenes around the country, “It’s so hard to meet people”, “I hate clubs”, “The scene is designed for kids”. If any or all of these statements have you nodding in agreement, please meet Mary Kenny.

I am a counsellor/psychotherapist/life-coach and have worked in private practice for the past ten years. Through my work I have met many people who are successful in all other areas of their life but they often find that in their personal relationships things are either not happening.

Basically I have found that those who are 30++ are either not comfortable or are disillusioned with the bar/club scene. The aim of this venue is to “bring the socialising back into going out” and provide a friendly, welcoming venue where singles can come alone or with friends to meet and mingle.

The idea is to have straight nights, gay nights, lesbian nights in Number One restaurant on Crow Street in Dublin’s Temple Bar and chill over some good food and wine.

This restaurant is based on the concept of coming to a friends dinner party. We will serve delicious home cooked food (with a menu that changes every day) and people can come to meet and eat with others who are like minded.

We will even end the night with music and dancing for those that are that way inclined. This venue is a one stop shop to meet, eat, chat, dance and generally go home feeling that you have had a great night out.

Mary is has also launched a relationships website because, as she told the Irish Independent:

The problem with dating websites is people are online talking to each other. They’re cultivating false relationships as they have never met the person. We’re aiming to bring people together who have common interests and I will also be available online as a counsellor to provide guidance to people in their relationship.

This woman may just be your saviour. The next night out for gay women is Friday March 20 at 8pm, so enjoy come entertainment, music and a three-course meal for €35.00 per person.
