Ladies Please….
Mar 14th, 2010 | By HAL | Category: MusicThere is a furore brewing online at the moment. Is it the result of greedy tax-dodgers, greedy NAMA bananas or an inept government? No, it’s all about the Gaga. On the week where International Women’s Day was patted on the head and told how cute it looked, journos have decided that the video to Telephone is worth getting knicker-knotted. Women may be part of the under-classes all over the world, lesbians raped and murdered but that’s not worth the column inches, this is:
La Gaga continues her genius ability to titillate some, annoy others and entertain everyone with this epic video. Some are calling it Lez-ploitation, others sexist. Me? I think it’s hilarious. It’s so completely over the top that you just know Gaga is playing with you; from the laugh out loud blatant product placement and the completely exaggerated costumes it proves that Gaga understands the media and how they see women. She’s as sick of being pandered to as we are, she wants to shake things up ands he’s doing it.
The video is about as revolutionary as Thelma and Louise, which it references, and as enjoyable. There are much more serious issues out there, let’s focus.

Is it just me, or is she also referencing Bound with that two-women-in-a-truck-holding-hands-and-driving-into-the-sunset thing? It’s probably just me…
At first it seemed that the video was a bit OTT on the sexed-up vibe, but then it meshed in so well that you couldn’t help but enjoy it for it’s balls-out, “deal with it” attitude. So obviously a parody in itself but in the best way possible, I LOVED it
And lets face it, when Lady Gaga does it, she does it so right
I see what you are saying Katherine but to me it was more like ‘Thelma and Louise’ in the end!!!
