Melissa and Tammy Etheridge Split

This morning I read the sad news that Melissa Etheridge and Tammy Lynn Michaels have ended their 9 year relationship. I have heard rumour of this for a while now but it’s still very sad to read that such a long relationship has come to an end. The couple had gone through a lot together, what with Melissa’s cancer in 2004 as well as happier times, having twins in 2006.
Melissa’s representative has told People that
Melissa and Tammy Etheridge are saddened to announce that they are now separated. (The couple add) We ask for consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period.
The couple had exchanged vows in Malibu in September 2003 and had indicated that they would marry legally in 2008 when it became law in California but this plan never came to fruition.
It seems that lots of couples are splitting up these days, Susan Sarandon and Tim Robbins, Kare Winslet and Sam Mendes to mention a few. Lets hope that both Melissa and Tammy find love again in the future.

It sad to hear of any relationship breaking up. It always makes me wonder what was the straw that broke the camels back? you would think after so long and being through so many highs and lows together that nothing was insurmountable. Wish them both the best and at least they decided to split rather than stay in a bad relationship, that will stand to the kids.
