GALAS: Breaking News

Tags: ,

A problem with the GALAS website has resulted in a loss of all nominations for the September awards ceremony so far. Due to a technical fault all nominations for the GALAS 2010 have been lost. If you have nominated already, the NLGF are asking you to nominate again today.
“The issue that created the problem has been resolved and we are taking additional steps to ensure the database is backed up daily,” says NLGF board member, Olivia McEvoy, co-ordinator of the GALAS.

“We know people put a lot of time, thought and effort into making their nominations and we are truly sorry this has happened.
“We are committed to ensuring the GALAS get as many nominations as possible so that our celebration of our community is as inclusive and representative as we can make it. But we need people to nominate again on the new system we have installed to manage the database.”
The NLGF are calling on nominators not to let the technical difficulties put people off making their nominations again.

“It is the people you nominated and we want to celebrate who would lose out if this technical fault were to put you off nominating again,” says McEvoy.

“Because of the process involved in shortlisting the nominations and the final process of deciding on the recipient of an award, we have to stay on track with the closing date for nominations. That closing date is 31st July, which only gives us eight days to renominate.”
To nominate again, or for the first time, visit www.galas.ie and nominate now.
The GALAS will take place on Friday, September 24 in the Radisson Golden Lane in Dublin. Tickets for the ceremony are available to purchase online via the GALAS website.
