And the winner is

I didn’t do too badly in my Emmy preditctions yesterday. Ok I got loads of them wrong but who cares? I’m too happy about the winner of Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Archie!!!

For those not in the know, Archie Panjabi plays Kalinda in The Good Wife. She is the no-shit private detective for the law firm in which Julianne Marguilies plays Alicia, the titular character. Oh and Kalinda is… ahem.. “sexually ambiguous”; bi to you and me. The two actresses burn up the screen with chemistry, as I wrote before.

I was absolutely convinced that this one was sewn up with Christina Hendricks practically dusting off a spot for the gong, and if you watch the clip below you’ll see why. The cheer she gets as her name is called out among the nominations, is the biggest cheer of the lot. That could have something to do with the whole Mad Men crew being half-cut though.

I love Christine Baranski’s reaction; never has a woman been so happy to lose an award.

Glee did exceptionally well too, with a win for Best Director of a Comedy, which means that the industry is taking it very seriously. Plus, it got some acting nods and it’s the queers who led the way. Jane Lynch and Neil Patrick Harris won for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy and Best Guest Actor in a Comedy, respectively.

Looking delicious in your gúna Jane, me auld flower, (that’s the wife sitting pretty beside her). It also seems that she’s as funny in real life as on the screen.

Glee was also part of the big opening number for the award ceremony. Jimmy Fallon must have been thanking the god of award ceremonies for a show that he could use in the opening. It made his life pretty sweet.

Thanks to FJNDCC for all of the YouTube work.
