Mother

Mother is a club night that takes place every Saturday night in Copper Alley (opposite the back of the Front Lounge) on Exchange Street. The club has been running for 11 weeks so far, and by all accounts has been amazing every time.

Last Saturday was the first chance I’d had to head along to it. As I was coming from a friend’s birthday, we arrived in dresses and tuxes, so were somewhat overdressed for the night as it gets quite hot in there!

The atmosphere was fantastic, with everyone dancing all night as the tunes just kept getting better and better. The DJ played everything from Annie Lennox to La Roux and Depeche Mode to MGMT. The musical highpoint of the night for me (and many others, judging by the roars of the crowd when the decks went momentarily silent) was Fischerspooner’s Emerge, which any lesbian film fans among you will remember from the nightclub sequence in D.E.B.S.

We also really liked how the night is strictly over 21s, which gives it a different vibe from many other nights on the scene…you know there’s something amiss when at the age of 22 I am beginning to feel too old for certain nights!

There are excellent drinks promos available, including : €3 shots of Tequilla, Sambuca and Micky Finns. €5 Vodka & Coke/7up/Tonic, €5 Gin & Coke/7up/Tonic, €5 Bacardi & Coke/7up/Tonic, €5 Jemmy & Coke/7up

Pre-Mother drinks happen in the Front Lounge every Saturday from 9pm, there are also concessions for the night available there.

Hosted by Will St. Leger, doors open at 10.30pm and the music plays till well after 3.30am. Entrance is €10 and is strictly over 21s.

All the proceeds from Mother go to the GCN Forever campaign.
