  • Apologies for the silly question but does this poll ask if the government should send all us gays to countries where we will be imprisoned?

  • Well, strictly speaking you’re not reading it wrong, but deportations only apply to non-Irish nationals.

So the poll is about deporting LGBT people back to their home countries.

    Hope this clarifies!

  • Criminalized often means torture and death await, and those who did make it out of the country only to be returned would attract more attention from their original country’s government and so be particularly vulnerable. Besides, if they stay here FF can continue to scapegoat them in a pathetic effort to distract the public and evade blame for running the country into the ground.

  • Absolutely not -that would be an act of barbarity in my opinion.
I guess however that the govt are maybe concerned that refugees will say they are gay in order to stay in the country?

Not that that’s an excuse for it or anything…

  • It’s funny you should mention that: if a decision maker proceeds on the basis of assuming people are straight unless proven otherwise, that would be serious cause for concern.

However, for this poll I’m talking about where there isn’t any reason to believe a person is “playing gay” (and where any questions about the veracity of the person’s story are few or none).

  • No no and no again.

That’s unconscionable. Send people to hell? What are we, Catholics?
