The ice is thick on the streets today and I am like bambi on ice trying to get to work, it’s not a good look.  However, nothing warms the cockles of my heart like reading that someone has come out, it just makes me all warm and fuzzy.  so congrats to Amber Heard who has done the right thing and stood up to be counted.

GLAAD’s 25th anniversary party was the venue where Amber declared herself to be a lady who loves the ladies.  The 24 year old actress, who you may know from films such as Zombieland, arrived at the party with her girl friend of two years, Tasya van Ree.

The US has had a recent spike in the reports of young gay people committing suicide and we can only hope that when people in the spotlight come out is shows that things really do get better.  This is perhaps especially true when the actor in question is still making a name for themselves in the movie world.

Speaking to AfterEllen the actress said:

I think GLAAD is one of the many reasons that I, as a 24-year-old, can come out…I hate the idea of a label just as much as anyone else but I’m with who I’m with, I love who I love and I’m if not a better actress than I was yesterday and my personal life should have no effect on that.

Doesn’t it just make you smile.  It’s great to see more and more people in the limelight come out and be proud of who they are.
