Recently me and the beau were out and about for some food and usually when we’re out our conversations will always lead to us discussing how my gaydar is mostly spot on while hers could use some tuning. For example while in Pantibar she asked if the barmen were gay…’nuff said.

This time we ventured to Dame Street or the ‘gay’ side of town for some munchies and noticed there was a gig happening in the Olympia. Inevitably as we passed we both looked at each other,in confusion, as we both were stumped as to who we thought was gay and who wasn’t.  Was it just a line full of hipsters or were some of these people gay? My gaydar hit a brick wall.

I’m as femme as they come with make-up,dresses,heels and all that girly crap but there’s a running joke between me and the beau about which one of us is more hipster. But the more I think about it the more I realise that lesbians are becoming increasingly hipster and it’s getting harder to tell the difference between the gays and the dire straights.

Let’s consider Ellen Page. We’re all waiting for her to come out of her giant,rainbow coloured, closet but she’s one hipster mo’ fo’, could she just be a hip lady and not at all gay? What about Kat Dennings, another viable lesbian but also a hipster. Agyness Deyn is definitely a lesbian right? Wrong, she’s just hipster.

I propose we all go back to conforming to our stereotypes and end this nonsense or lesbians everywhere will keep chatting up what appear to be trendy fellow lezbots, but are really straight folk in disguise.
