Expendabelles: Who are your Expendable women?

It’s like they reached into my mind. There are whispers on the the net that an all-female The Expendables-type film is to made.

It seems that there is money to be made in action movies these days if they are fronted by women. Or should I say, it seems that the people who hold Hollywood purse-strings have finally realised the fact.

Back when Angie starred in the first Tomb Radier film, the powers that be thought it was a freak of the box-office that she could make popular action movie. They chalked it up to the Angie-factor.

Then something began to happen; indie film-makers started to use women actors to kick ass and take names. Pre-Tomb Raider, Kill Bill was the mama of them all, but it could be sold as a QT film.

It was followed by the Resident Evil films, the Underworld films and more recently Columbiana and Haywire, which were purely marketed as fun for all, with a woman in the lead.

None of them lit up the box office to a huge extent, but when you look at the bottom line, they mande serious money. One of the main reasons for this is that women get paid less in Hollywood. You can get a dozen Gina Garanos for a Tom Cruise, so it takes less box-office to make a profit.

It shows just how conservsative Hollywood producers are, that they regurgatate story after story: The Expendables was good money, let’s make another one! Oh – and, and, and – one with WOMEN!

Whatever, at least we can reap the rewards.

There has been much talk about who should star in the movie: Glamour, The Slate and These Guys all have suggestions.

Personally, I think we need either Linda Hamilton or Sigourney Weaver as the older, all-knowing leader. Other than that Gina has to be there. Plus Milla Jovovich and Zoe Saldana. Other than that… Who am I kidding? It’s all good!

What do you think? Who do you want to see tote weapons and kick some arse?
