There has been some confusion over the past 24 hours about the venue of the Dublin Pride Run. The good folks at Dublin Frontrunners who are doing the organising have confirmed that the venue has not changed, and the run will still take place in the Phoenix Park.

    A meeting will take place in Dublin later this week to consider the challenges and opportunities facing women in sport in Ireland. Members of Sport for Business will gather this Thursday, 31st May, at Jury’s Croke Park. The inaugural Dublin 5k Pride Run will take place on Friday 22nd June at 7.30pm in the Phoenix Park. The event is a summer fun run and everyone is welcome to participate. The run is in support of Headstrong: The National Centre for Youth Mental Health.

We’re only just past the half-way stage for the month January, and Irish women in sport are already racking up the achievements – oodles of which have taken place this past weekend alone.

Ireland’s Fionnualla Britton has been shortlisted for the December European Athlete of the Month. Get voting to top of a wonderful month for a great athlete.

Today sees the closing ceremony of the 8th Gay Games in Cologne, which kicked off on 31st July – and a well-deserved rest for the 100-odd members of Team Ireland. And bloody hell, didn’t Team Ireland do well?
