This weekend, 13th and 14th April, the Constitutional Convention will discuss access to civil marriage and constitutional protection for lesbian and gay couples.

The Labour Party have followed through on their promise to introduce a Bill that would eliminate the Constitutional issues with legislating for same sex marriage in Ireland.

Last night saw a historic vote take place in Cork. their county councillors voted unanimously in favour of supporting marriage equality for same sex couples and hopefully other’s in the Republic will follow suit

Our friends at MarriagEquality have been working away at trying to make some sense out of the Civil Partnership Bill and so decided to ask a barristor to have a look. They asked important questions like what the Bill will mean for same-sex couples and those with children if it becomes law in its current state?

Now that the march for marriage is over you might be wondering what else you can do to forward the cause of civil marriage in Ireland. Well there are a few options, you can visit your local TD for a chat, do some fundraising or go for a night out with your mates!
Our friends at MarriagEquality are hosting a gig in Dublin’s Vicar Street on October 1st at 8pm.

Last Sunday afternoon saw our community, our families, our friends and our supporters take to the streets of Dublin to march for civil marriage to be legalised for LGBTQ people. I’d heard everyone for weeks saying that they’d be there but I wondered on the day how many would stay true to their word.
