A huge and hearty Gaelick congratulations to Barry Dignam and Hugh Walsh who got hitched recently, 17 years after they started dating. Yes kids, that’s before some of you made your communion. Isn’t it just ridiculous that homosexuality was a crime when they met?

Let them eat cake
Things are flying along mightily with the wedding plans. Thanks to everyone for their good wishes, people rock. The checklist is looking pretty good and we’re doing well. Sure you’d think we were experts. Em….maybe not.
My Big Fat Gay Wedding
A couple of lezzers who may or may not write for this site were in the Irish Times yesterday. The paper let us reproduce the article for you in case you missed it. Would you look at them, making a show of themselves!
What not to wear
Ladies and gentlefolk, I need your help in a time of crisis. A crisis of conscience to be exact. As you may know, I’m getting hitched this year. All is going splendidly but for one thing. What will I wear? Do you know of anything I can wear that will make me look like the bride but spare my blushes?
The election: It’s the economy, stupid! …Isn’t it?
I have heard some voices online claiming that the only real issue to be borne in mind at this election is the economy. That other issues – such as those relating to disability, health, poverty, equality – should take a back seat so that political actors can deal with the economy.
Blooming wedding
After months of arranging our forthcoming nuptuals, and writing about it on Gaelick, a couple of people got in touch with info about gay or gay friendly people who are out there to help you on your big day. Isn’t the interweb a wonderful thing?
D’arrangements
Civil Partnership legislation is in, so it’s time for me and the missus to get hitched. Again. We had a humanist ceremony a few years ago. It was a great day and I still get a big grin when I think of it. When we get civilly partnerfied it’ll be 11 years to the day, but we never in our wildest dreams thought we’d have the chance to get married in Ireland.
New Year Partnership
2011 is almost upon us and Jan first sees Irish couples eligible to register for Civil Partnership for the first time. It’s an exciting time for many couples, however, let us, as a community, keep our eye firmly on what we truly deserve – full marriage rights.
Law Reform Commission report on family relationships
The Law Reform Commission yesterday published its Report on the Legal Aspects of Family Relationships. The report makes recommendations to reform Irish law in relation to certain – though not all – same-sex relationships where children are being raised.
Gaelick Highlights
Well, can you Adam-and-Steve it, folks, it’s been thirteen whole days since the last Gaelick news round-up? So, what has been happening in that intervening period? Lesbian LOLs? Sapphic surprises? Dishing the dykey dirt? Read on!
Civil Partnership Bill 2009 – Mary A and the Supremes
Crikey, I disappear into a world of heteronormativity for the weekend for a wedding, and – irony of ironies – it’s all go on the Civil Partnership Bill front. Rumour has it that the President is considering sending the Bill to the Supreme Court over its constitutionality.
Gaelick highlights
It’s been quite a while since our last round-up of what’s been happening here at Gaelick Towers. (Personally, I blame the hectic madness of Pride and the Civil Partnership Bill.) Let’s remedy that, shall we?
A Suppa Earl Gae
Morning! Today’s post is brought to you courtesty an epic CP Bill-passing sized hangover. Some of us Gaelickers had arranged a meeting on the same evening as the bill is passed and sure one would have to crack open a bottle of champagne or 3 to mark the historic occasion. Thank Tayto its Friday!
Civil Partnership Bill 2009 – Seanad Stages
Hooray, hooray! After history was made last week, when the Dáil passed the Civil Partnership Bill 2009, the Bill makes its way to Seanad Éireann on both Wednesday and Thursday of this week for final debate. It should make for lively viewing and reading, if we hear from the likes of equality champions and anti-Bill conservatives.
Civil Partnership Bill 2009 – Report Stage
Guess what’s back! That’s right, the Civil Partnership Bill 2009 returns, this time for the Report Stage in the Dáil. The debate takes place between 5pm and 9pm, tomorrow, Thursday, 1st July 2010. Tune in! Comment! Tweet!
The abuse of “conscience” to defend inequality
Skipping between his views of “morals,” the Irish constitution, and “democracy,” Fr Vincent Twomey’s argument against the Civil Partnership Bill is wide-ranging, but struggles to stand up to scrutiny
