2011 has been celebrated as a great year for the LGBT community. Of course, as long as severe inequality persists, it’s difficult to wholeheartedly agree that it was a great year. You could go around thinking that there isn’t a gay, lesbian, bi or trans person over the age of 50, such is the lack of visibility. These are the people who created the very idea of the gay community that we now we enjoy, yet they are nowhere to be seen, eclipsed by those youngsters reaping the benefits of their fight.

It’s LGBT History Month at Tallaght Library

February 2010 sees LGBT History Month being celebrated for the first time in Ireland, at Tallaght County Library. There will be talks on LGBT literature and history, a screening of Gus Van Sant’s “Milk”, and an ongoing exhibition curated by Tonie Walsh of the Irish Queer Archive.




The GALAs: The Gay and Lesbian Awards 2009
